HAMLINK POC

We are proud to announce another way to connect to America’s Kansas City Wide Digital Network. KCWide has partnered with the PoC network called Ham Link PoC. If you have a PoC device and an account with Ham Link PoC you can connect to KCWide. We are excited about bringing you this new technology of push to talk over cellular and WiFi and its use on America’s Kansas City Wide Digital Network.

Push to talk over cellular and more recently WiFi was developed by a US telecom company Nextel in the 1980’s. It was the first alternative to two way radios. In 2002 following the creation of a set of specifications by the Open Mobile Alliance, 2G and 3G networks were used but were sparse initially in the US and virtually non-existent in Europe. However, once 4G rolled out with its fast data speeds PoC found real traction with all kinds of users. In the last year Amateur radio has embraced this technology and we are now seeing network and PoC devices become more widely used.

KCWide is excited about this new technology and is proud to announce our partnership with the PoC network that was created just for amateur radio called Ham Link PoC. If you have a PoC device and an account with Ham Link, join us on America’s Kansas City Wide Digital Network.
